What do to about a swollen throat ?

Hi my auntie had a gastric band fitted so she can lose weight, but she has been having problems with still not being able to eat and bleching like she is trying to be sick. Anyways she went down to have her staples out and she told them she still cant eat nothing, So they gave her a barium meal, and it showd up that her food was digesting they told her they have scratched her throat whilst in the operation, but she keeps gagging because of it and it doesnt give her time to digest her food and as soon as she has a few sips or mouthfuls she brings it back. Does anyone know how to she can help her throat to heal as the doctors at the private surgery never gave her anything for it, and she cant go to the doctors as she had it done privately.

Your aunties should ask to be referred to a Speech and Language therapist. They will assess her swallowing reflex and advise on exercises that will help her to swallow. Even if this was done privately the specialist should be monitoring your aunt.
Your aunt could try having a liquid diet for a few days to see if she can keep that down, just need to make sure that it has good nutrional value.
    Good luck
