I would have done anything to have a lap band, even go to Mexico, so crazy i know (but now i think MGB, would be better then a Foreign object in my body (no pun intended) I have BMI of 43ish yikes. Question what is the down time on a MGB?

This is propoganda to sell the bypass. I love my lapband as does most in my support groups. Yes failure CAN BE the patient’ s fault. It can also be the surgeon’s fault. But the band itself is sound and it has saved my life! I thank God for the procedure that has helped me so much without altering my anatomy!

New Study from Austria: More Disappointing Gastric Band Results

New long term study from Innsbruck Medical University Hospital, Austria. The results were disappointing with a high complication rate and many dissatisfied patients.

  12. paulaitchison says:

What peer reviewed evidence do you have to state its “close to 100% failing rate by ten years” – That is just not reflective of the true data AS WELL YOU KNOW I AM SURE. (unless you think 34% is close to 100%)

you are bloody close to breaching your hippocratic oath with that statement for intentionally misleading your patients for personal gain.

    Blaming the Victim!
People who are affected with overweight and obesity are often victims of stigmatization and discrimination. It is time to Stop Blaming the Victim. IF the surgery fails should we blame the patient or the operation?

    Dear DrR.

I had it done in Mexico, Lap band surgery, also had 2 fills in Tampa, Florida. Total failure! can you convert my surgery to the MGB?

  17. DrRRutledge says:

    Dear Dr Rutledge,

had the original band put on in october of 2003, lost 102 pounds. today ( 5 years later, i have regained about 70 pounds)

    Please Help me!

  18. rasillon69 says:

This surgeon should not be so negative about the band, it sounds like he is selling bypasses!!

Not all folks with a band suffer from this, the patient could easily be at fault by not following instructions that make the lap band work.

    Sorry I don’t like this guy….
