They just want to know if you will be able to do what you need to to suceed after surgery and are not suffering from severe depression…anything that may get in the way of you success. Mine was only about 30 minutes…just be honest and youll do fine :) Cindy xx

It was a breeze! I spent about 45-1 hour with the psychologist talking about my weight history, what i know about the surgery, what are my expectations, to make sure I am realistic & know it is a tool and not a miracle cure. Dont be nervous, you have done enough research to know your stuff and should be fine. The only time I heard of a eval being the reason for a decline when she drank daily & admitted 2 thinking they could continue the same lifestyle, pretty dumb mistake, ur smart u know.

Mine took about 45 min. She asked the standard questions about childhood, support system, any traumatic events that may be affecting your eating problem. Make sure you are relaxed, don’t be afraid to answer and don’t refuse to answer a question. It isn’t as bad as you think it will be. My Dr. said that as long as you don’t have multiple personalities you will do fine. Can’t have one personality deciding to have surgery and the others not knowing about it.

mine we talked for about 45 minutes just your basic life questions and questions about your eating habits. He also asked about my support system who do I have at home, are there any friends or family that are there to support me and then I took the same questionnaire that Doug took and I actually had a second one to do also. I cant remember the name for that one. just make sure u are truthful in these if u get them they will be true or false answers but they are about ur life and thoughts.

I think the MMPI was over 500 questions, many of the same questions asked in different ways. I remember one ststement was “I sometimes talk to people who are invisible to others.” I’m not kidding.

My psych eval was super easy we talked about what WLS meant, my procedure, the life changes, he just wanted to make sure I knew what to expect and to make sure my expectations were real and not off the wall. It was really easy I think I spent 30-40 mins talking to him with my 5 year old. Haha

  14. inspector941 says:

If so, just go with it and don’t try and second guess it. I found out a lot about myself when reviewing the results. Don’t worry, you will do just fine.

OK, tomorrow is the day you find out that you’re totally nuts! ;-)
Seriously, I viewed it as a necessary evil but came away knowing that it was a very important part of the equation. They just want to make sure your mind is on board with the new lifestyle. I think the mind is almost more important than the physical aspect of the surgery. You might take the MMPI test. Continued…
