People getting gastric bands, why don't they just take responsibility and lose the weight the hard way?

god it is self imposed, whatever the reasons were, this is just an easy way out is it not? doesnt exactly motivate people to look after themselves.

Because most fat people are lazy and like to eat.

i agree! i lost weight the hard way! people just need to get some control of themselves and eat when they need too not just because theyre bored or because they feel like it.

My feelings exactly. They ate themselves into that predicament, they should eat themselves out (or technically stop eating). It’s not that difficult people! Exercise & eat healthy & moderately!!

Lack of discipline never pays anyway, and taking the easier way out deprives people of a sense of accomplishment or responsibility for their own body. People shoudl at the very least have control over themselves and how they eat.

Some people are lazy. But some people do in fact have genetic conditions that make it incredibly difficult to lose wieght. Also for some people who are morbidly obese its dangerous for them to even exercise. Its not just a fast fix, after they lose a certain amount of weight then they start exercising.

because some people are at very dangerous weights, to the point where they could die, and need to lose weight fast.

some people are on medications that make them gain weight, or have a thyroid problem. yes, it is usually their fault. but i think that if they are about to die, they should get gastric bypasses. it has helped a lot of people. not everyone can lose weight the hard way, because some of those people can barely get out of bed.

please stop being so narrow minded and rude.

I’d hardly call major surgery easy.

Doing a healthy eating/exercise type strategy for weight loss, you’re looking at a loss of 1-2lb’s a week. This is seen as a healthy weight loss rate. Now, apply that to someone who is morbidly obese with 100′s of lb’s to lose. At that rate, it would be almost impossible, bearing in mind, these patients usually have a limited time frame in which to lose weight, due to the related health problems, which could be life threatening. I don’t think anyone has stuffed themselves full of food thinking "meh, it’s fine, I’ll just get an op and I’ll be sorted". Surgery really is the last resort, and agreed to through desperation.

When you are that overweight, most likely you have a problem with eating. It’s not just a physical thing, it’s mental and emotional, too. Gastric bypass makes eating more than a small amount extremely uncomfortable, helping to break the multifaceted bond with food. It’s like drug addiction, a meth head most likely won’t get clean without a little help.

Also, a large amount of extra fat can put you in extreme danger, and gastric bypass will quickly alleviate associated health risks.

Hell, I’m 10 pounds overweight and I completely understand their struggle.

their lazy , but at the same time its really bad for you and bassicly your just as fit and the health effects or just as bad as being obese. the only difference is they look different.
