I am currently a Junior in HS, and have been worrying about my chances into getting accepted into college.?

Well here is my background information: I used to live in Orange County California and during my Freshman year I had all honors courses due to my middle school record. But sadly, my grades began to decline, and the situation at home wasn’t helping either. My dad was overfilled with financial problems, and my mom frequently got into fights with him regarding money. I found myself feeling anxiety throughout the freshman year, and then it was the abrupt decision of my parents to move back to Illinois, Chicago. I moved within the half of my sophmore year. My classes were: English Literature (H), Chemistry (H), World History (AP), Algebra II, and Electives. Much to my demise, during the 2 weeks of the move I could not comprehend what was going on at my new school. I found myself distressed with overflowing "catch-up" work, and Chemistry Honors was not going over well too smoothly. Too top it off, my father continued to fight with my family, and I myself, fought with him as well. My grades dropped down to a 2.8 G.P.A, and both my mom and dad blamed it on me. As expected, the finals did not go over so well, and the school did not even have an World History AP course. I was forced to drop WHAP into World History Honors, and miraculously adapt to the information I did not learn. Anyone who has transferred schools overstate knows how exceedingly hard it is to follow a different schedule, class rigor, and curriculum. So thus, I continued this pit fall, and once the Junior year came, matters got incredibly worse. My father was diagnosed with gastric cancer and got his stomache removed. My mom was filled with emotional depression and sought work outside of the house. My brother continued his gaming addiction, and I myself, felt lost admist all this chaos that went inside the house. I personally admit to feeling lazy, and gave up hope on school. When my father was discharged; he continued to harass me about how low my grades were, and considered even dropping school to send me off to the military. My current schedule in the Junior Year is as follows: AP English Lit and Comp, AP US History, Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, Gym, (Involved in multiple clubs), and Electives. I am incredibly worried now since my GPA is at a 2.8. I originally planned on applying to University of Illinois Urbana, but now I begin to doubt whether I will get past the acceptance process. I have been trying harder though, but for some reason my math class has not been going over so well. Does anyone know what I should do, or include in my personal acceptance if I do apply?
Thank you for that answer. But it’s the GPA my parents constantly harass me about. I mean a 2.8 weighted isn’t going so well, and Junior year as gotten incredibly difficult. I just got my practice ACT back, which was my very first ACT, and got a 26. IF my GPA isn’t well, will my ACT provide some kind of support into the admissions process? The GPA that I have is my own fault, and I truly recognize that, but it was also the stress from home and school. I could not manage going to the hospital periodically while at the same time balancing my school courses, and fights with my family. If I do well persay in the second semester of Junior year; exceedingly better than the first semester, and the same is repeated throughout my senior year. Will I have a chance?

You are better off then you think. You started off taking high – level courses. Good! You need to improve your GPA. Junior year is the most important and AP courses put you ahead of the crowd. Most people can also take courses while in high school at a local community college, they will usually pay for the tuition for college students and also raise your GPA in the process. 95% of students at University of I Urbana are in the top 25% percentile of there class, try to go above that. Talk to someone in admissions at this university, their numbers can be found on their website. It is never too late!
