A few years ago, my husband and I were trying to get pregnant..I was very overweight and my periods pretty much ceased so after going to numberous of specialist and doctors I was told I have PCOS..I had the symptoms and the cysts to prove it…Well, didn’t get put on any meds but sought a different opinion..still was told I have PCOS but, I would need to try to lose weight in the meantime I could try Clomid to make me ovulate and get pregnant well, I didn’t lose weight because within my second round I got pregnant and now our daughter is 3 and half years old..fast forward: about 2 years ago I had a gastric bypass right before I had the surgery I got on bc pills because I didn’t want to get pregnant until my wounds healed and my nutrient levels were good and usually that takes a good 18 months or longer. While on the bc pills I had normal 28 cycles perfectly…now that I got the Ok to start trying again and have lost all my weight I have stopped the bc pills this past January. I had a 36 days cycle after that…was told by my ob it could take a few cycles for my body to get rid of the chemicals…the next cycle was 38 days…Now, I am currently on day 61 and still no period but horrible cramping went to the ER did blood work and u/s and everything came back normal or negetive sooo…here I am I have done everything the doctors have told me yet I can’t get my body to do what it is supossed to do…am I just going to have to go back and force myself to have a period then take clomid again in order to get pregnant? Why isn’t my body doing what it was supossed to do? All the doctors told me that there is nothing wrong with my body and that if I just lose the weight I should have no problem getting pregnant..well, I did that and here I am going back the way I used to be when I was overweight! I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs…I workout, eat healthy,,,I do everything right…am I missing something?!? Has anyone else dealt with this issue too? any advice please!! =) By the way I’m 27 yrs old so I doubt it’s menopause or anything of that nature.

it might be best to try clomid again. one of my coworkers has had her period 2 times in the last year on her own and they can’t figure out why she wont ovulate. she just turend 30 has no children and had no problems before while on birth control. the doctors said it could have been the birth control since she was on it for 11 years. but maybe you want to discuss your options with a fertility specialist.
Unfortunately none of us are biology text-books. If you’ve conceived once and have a daughter with the help of Clomid then what’s wrong with using it again to help this time? That’s what advances in medical science are there for ;o) You sound like you’re beating yourself up for not doing it naturally – just go for whatever works.
I agree with the other answerers. But I wanted to add that for most people who are trying to conceive it takes a while. It took me 13 months for my first even with regular periods. Sounds like your cycle has been through a lot. When I first started getting periods again after my son was born, I skipped a month. (I also skipped a random month in high school, and I was still a virgin.) Have the docs said anything about you going 61 days without a cycle? Maybe it is common after all you have been through, I don’t know.
Really though, I wish you the best, and have some baby dust!
