If you have a doctor refer you for the surgeon because your weight is becoming life threatening, then it might be covered. You can call your local state agency and ask them about coverage and I am sure they will be glad to inform you regarding coverage.

As far as I know, this kind of procedure is usually only covered if you’re more than 100lbs overweight or your weight is posing a serious risk to your health. I’m sure it differs from region to region, though.
