I had gastric bypass a year and a half ago, and i am having my gallbladder removed in a couple of weeks. I am very worried about what is going to happen to me. I wonder will i keep loosing weight, or put it on since i had gastric bypass surgery, and now i have to have my gallbladder out. Is there anything anyone can tell me to let me know what to expect, or what will happen. Any information is better than not having any at all. Thanks

I had gastric bypass 3 1/2 years ago, and at one and a half years out, that’s about the turning point where you start to gain the weight back if you aen’t careful, so gallbladder or no gallbladder, keep an eye on the scale… I was a year and a half out when the scale started going in the other direction, and if you have started testing the waters and letting the old bad eating habits come creeping back in, it’s gonna be hard to maintain the weight loss. I had lost 105 lbs, but over the last couple of years I put 20 back on, and that is with making an effort to eat healthy and exercise when I have time.
I don’t know all abt. it but a couple of people who’ve had it say you don’t have a big incision like drs. used to do. They make 3 tiny incisions and pull it out.
I know my aunt had gall bladder surgery and it didn’t stop her from doing anything. She was in the hospital for maybe 6 hours and home and could eat liquids that night and could start eating what she could tolerate the next day. You could post that question on obesityhelp.com and that has people on it that has had the surgery. It is a great support tool.
