could i be hypnotized to make myself believe i have undergone gastric bypass surgery?

i want that or the lap-band, but am not eligble through insurance, nor can i afford to pay out of pocket.

so, do you think i could i be hypnotized?
i am not eligible because a. my insurance doesn’t cover anything weight/obesity related b. i’m fat, but not fat enough and c. i think it has to be causing other things to happen, ie diabetes, sleep apnea etc.

It’s possible, but it probably wouldn’t do any good. Hypnosis just doesn’t work that way. Assuming that you’re doing your best to eat well and exercise, and it’s still not enough, you’d be better off going to a psychologist. If insurance doesn’t cover it and you can’t afford it, it’s possible that there’s free or discounted services in your area. Hypnosis is great for concentration, pain control, and managing symptoms, but using it to ignore your problems or trick yourself isn’t going to help.

I am not a firm believer in the great all-solving hypnosis so I won’t comment on that.

The real question is, how come you are not eligible for, let’s say the band? I take it you have tried countless diets, exercising etc. and have applied for a surgery because all of that didn’t help. It’s usually the point of absolute desperation that makes people consider undergoing this kind of surgery that is not without risks… did they give you a proper reason?

Yes, it’s possible, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Then you might just feel fatter and be like "Wow, I had gastric bypass surgery and I still have extra flab!".

But if you do decide to do it, make sure you delete this question first so you don’t come back and read it!

as a post gastric bypass patient myself, I will have to say no, I don’t think it’s possible. also with gastric bypass you don’t absorb all you eat, and that won’t change with hypnosis
