Can you get a Gastric Balloon on the NHS?

Do the NHS provide Gastric Balloons? I am 25 and curently about 4 stone overweight. I have an underactive thyroid which caused me to put on the weight in the first place and now have high blood pressure (which i am on medication for). I am finding it very very diffilcult to lose the weight and am trying to look at what can be done on the NHS. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Just to let you know that I am 17 stone and 5 foot 10 inches.

you’d probably need to be like 25 stone and having health problems due to the weight to even make the doctor THINK about putting you on the list for a gastric band.

Just try to eat more fruit, and try to drink more water.

In a day, you should eat 5-9 fruit and veg a day. 4 ounces if raw, and 2 ounces is it’s cooked.

You should also consume 2ltrs of water a day, at the very least, 1.5ltrs.

Did you know 1 banana has 138 calories, but only 1% fat.
Where as the average Mars bar has around 250 calories and a staggering 12% fat?!

Looks out for little things like that. Also, if you eat a small apple before breakfast, lunch and dinner, you will increase you weight loss by twice as much! :)

Apples are a super food, very very good for you, they have soluble and insoluble properties. The insoluble makes you feel full-up, and the soluble makes a sticky liquid in your gut, which releases sugar gradually, so you don’t need sugar fix’s!

I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear with the question you asked, but I thought I’d save you 5 points, by you not asking the next question of "How do I loose 4 stone?"

    Hope I’ve helped!

Don’t hesitate to message me if you feel the need to chat anymore! :)

you would probably have to be more over weight than that. but if you have been to the docs a few times about it they might refer you

yes you can providing you meet the criteria for the primary care trust in your area.normally its based on how big your bmi is the bigger the bmi the more chance of getting it done on the nhs.they also take into consideration co morbities like diabetes type 2 sleep apnoea etc.good luck if this is what you want.but remember its not a cure all its a tool to be used wisely.
