Yes you can. There are several medications that are prescribed to either reduce the acidity of your gastric secretions or reduce the amount of acidic secretions that your stomach produces. These may be prescribed with an antibiotic or a medication that will protect the lining of your stomach. Gastric ulcers may be caused by regular smoking of cigarettes, regular alcohol consumption, frequent use of NSAIDS (e.g. Aspirin, Ibuprofen etc.), a bacterial infection, or possibly hyper(para)thyroidism. In the meantime you should stop (or at least minimize) your usage of alcohol, tobacco and NSAIDS. It is also recommended to eat smaller meals more frequently, avoid spicy foods and to avoid foods high in fat.Over the counter antacids may relieve your pain for a short period of time but if you do have signs of an ulcer it should be treated by a doctor. Good luck!
