i found out that if you use a food processor, I have a cup size that retails for about $10 and grind the chicken up you have lot less trouble eating chicken. Eating it any other way it is very painful. Ground chicken still poses a problem.
I had the same problem after my gastric bypass. It was a year before I could eat chicken, and even now if it is too dry or not chewed REALLY well, I will throw it up. Best if eaten with something liquid like broth, or the really soft meat of chicken wings…Tolerated eggs ok. Good luck with GB….still the best thing I ever did, I don’t regret ever!! Thanks Dr. Katsis, you are AWESOME!!!
good to know! Thanks!
Im getting ready to have gastrix byppass surgery and this is bery helpful.
Poor Jeremie, who pissed in your koolaid and made you such an evil troll? Leave her alone. Get a grip.
Jeremie, your are rude, she is a very considerate and thoughtful person and is olny trying to help.
you’re stupid this doesnt apply to all ivr had gasyric bypass and i eat a whole bonless chicken breast with no problems ..i eat it all the time so go fuck off..
I wish I had watched this one before I ate some chicken last night. I have been so sick ever since. Won’t make that mistake again. *sigh*
omg! i learned that the hard way. i though i just ate too much but even when i ate a little i still had this terrible pain.
you love eggs
Nuts are indeed a good substitute; they are gorged with protein, plus fiber and vit E… which is a fat soluble vitamine we need!
yeah, that is what i said i eat it ground. I eat lots of ground chicken in chili and other stuff and also I eat turkey sausage.
maybe you wish to try it as ground?…
… so even veggies are not shielded from these jams at the exit of your first stomach!
I am a vegatarian, … and I got problems with seitan
your cat made me laugh
Gawd thanks for the warning, we eat chicken every day here…now I know to be careful!
Newly post-ops sometimes have issues with chicken but further out you’ll be fine
I had a bit of a hard time with it getting stuck at first but by 6-7 weeks post-op I was having NO problems with it.
Good advice, thanks for sharing your experience with chicken. I am pre-op and of course chicken has always been the “good” meat, low fat/high protein. I’m really trying to get all the info I can before surgery, bad as well as good, and it’s great to have some forewarning about things that might not be so tummy-friendly.
And Amelia, your videos are so great. You are a real sweetheart.
Glad I am not the only one who experiences problems with eating chicken. I have problems with most meats… OUCH!
*pout* so sorry to hear that!!! may get better with time?
i am sorry to say i cant tolerate any meat i live on almonds…. and cheesy tots ,only made fresh off the broiler or they r rubbery and gross… maybe that is why i am underwieght , i get terrible dumping with everything:(
i too can do chicken, but not pork.
my surgeon lets us eat chicken, but at 6 months out since it’s stringy and our tummies can’t handle it yet.
Yeah, beans are great! I’ve shyed away from them because that’s all I ate in the pureed form 2 weeks out and I got so tired of them! But your beans look awesome! I hope you can eat it with an egg in it. PS Moxy is so cute!
Chicken is probably the easiest meat for me to eat. I am so thankful because I love chicken!!!! I just made the best homemade chicken salad. I had heard that it could be a problem and was so worried but I don’t have a problem with it.
That rocks! am jealous. I am putting up a video on my black beans and my chili soon. The black beans taste awesome with a fried egg in them. I wish I could have them that way, may try to see if I can keep it down with the beans. Beans are so soothing in my pouch, they never make me sick
I’m ok with chicken and eggs. Each person is different post-op, strangely enough. You’d think the surgery would affect us all the same!
