Being off work for a planned surgery?

So over the last 18 months of my life I have had gastric bypass and lossed over 200lbs and would like to have a lower body lift to re move all the excess skin from abdomon and flanks.

Anyway I recenently (5 weeks ago) started a new job, demo/construction and am on a 3 month probation and am sure that will go fine but, I will be needing 4-6 weeks off to recover for this surgery.

My main questions are should I wait till after my 3 month mark and pass probation before I even mention it, or let them know soon that i will need time off from mid november to probally beginning of the year, or will this mabey give them second thoughts about passing me on probation, and i will be out of a job, which would suck.

also, can i lie …. about what type of surgery i am having, is it there bussiness or right to know that it is an elective surgery.

What other type of surgery might a 22y male need 4-6 weeks off that I can say i had instead of the tummy tuck/lbl? mabey not lie to management but co-workers.

I have found that its best never to lie about anything it can get you later in the end besides i think you will have a peace of mind about the whole thing and it would be nice to have the support of your coworkers etc. I would advise you to wait three months then plan time off for your surgery why create drama if you don’t have to?!

If you tell them, you probably won’t get hired. Are you or will you be part of a Union? If not, good luck on maintaining that job.
