18 Weeks Post-Op Gastric Bypass

A small loss of 1.8 pounds last week for a total weight loss of 81.5 pounds. I am proud of those 1.8 pounds though because I did the work this week, and added in regular, intentional, exercise. Even though the scale gave me a small number… it was no fault of my own!

Congrats on the 80lbs gone! You look fabulous. I think about what the future will be like as the lbs drop and people’s response to that weight loss will be. I am hoping that those who are friends now will embrace me as I strive for my goals. I also wonder if my personality will change…I think if I was alot younger it might… at almost 46 I am happy with who I am other than wanting to be healthier so I don’t know if it will. Great vid!

Congrats on the 80 lbs! Great update, and I totally understand about worrying about your personality changes, cause I too was always the “fat funny girl”, especially at work. So I’ve noticed that I’ve become a little more serious, I haven’t felt the need to make them all laugh. It’s strange :) Actually my hubby and I were talking about how I seem more mature since my surgery. I don’t freak out as easily, I’m just calmer and I think it is because I’m not high on sugar anymore. Take care!

81 pounds is awesome. I need to have that same positive attitude when my loss is 1-2 lbs a week. I gained my weight after high school too… what a bummer, eh!

81.5 pounds lost is amazing! I, too, can go all day without drinking. I got the recommendation for the camelbak water bottle from you! and now I keep a small bound journal with me and check off each 16 oz bottle I drink. I force myself to drink one before I even eat breakfast and then one before lunch. I drink one more leisurely thru the rest of the day and then count other fluids from shakes and jello, etc. Since I started doing this I get all my fluids in!

While those people aren’t wishing you ill, they are rather uncomfortable with the new you. Give them time. or… maybe they aren’t going to be along for the journey. That is, of course, YOUR decision, not theirs.

You need to take care of YOU. (yes, this sounds like counseling, as that’s where I heard it from). I learned to say, “Yes.” when someone called me selfish. We women are especially bad at taking care of ourselves first. You need to keep it up! (Oprah would agree!)

    80 pounds! WOW!

One interesting thing about surgery and any other big changes we make in our lives (getting married, having a baby, etc.) is that they are selfish (in a good way) acts. Any of those things means BIG changes in your social life – you either go out more or less – you are maybe more often with one other person (spouse or kid) and others find it disconcerting. Some people were comfortable with you just the way you were – as you were available to them – mentally or physically.

Yay for hitting 80 pounds lost! Great job!

I completely agree about being the funny fat girl! I have the same fears about personality change and stuff after losing the weight.

I think that sometimes my family get tired of hearing about the surgery. They dont treat me differeently but sometimes some of the other people that I interact with at work say inconsiderate things.

I worry about the same things!!!! I worry that my sense of humor is going to be gone or that my friends are going to treat me differently.
